Deborah Gurtler, BA, AG I was born and raised in southern Arizona. My love for genealogy began as a teenager and I’ve been at it ever since. I picked up my Spanish language skills while living with my family in South America. I lived in Chile for 4 ½ years and in Peru for 9 months. I’ve been doing my own family history research for over 40 years. Before working at the Family History Library I worked as a contract researcher for several genealogical research firms as well as for my own clients.
