Torstedlund Estate, Aalborg, Denmark
Contents
History[edit | edit source]
Torstedlund estate is first mentioned in 1390 as the property of Jon Viffertsen. It remained in his family until 1595 when it was purchased by Niels Krabbe. The property continued in possession of his descendants and relations until it was sold to Christian Frederik von Levetzau in 1724. Von Levetzau also owned the estates of Albæk, Store Restrup, Aastrup, Overklit and Ørslevkloster. In 1750 von Levetzau began construction of what became known as the palace of Christian VIII, part of the Amalienborg castle complex in Copenhagen. In 1812 Torstedlund passed from the von Levetzau family and has been owned by many individuals and families.
In 1812 Torstedlund passed from the von Levetzau family to members of the de Neergaard family, and then to Rasmus Conradsen from 1830 to 1837. From 1600 to 1830 Torstedlund and Albæk estates were owned by the same individuals. Because of this researchers should consider searching the records of both estates. Since 1837 Torstedlund has been owned by many individuals and families.

Images from the microfilm can be accessed through the FamilySearch Catalog record.
