Change of Name Needed to North Macedonia[edit source]

This page, its parent category, and its related pages should all have their names changed from Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia ... or FYROM ... or Macedonia to just North Macedonia ...

Names of countries in the research wiki are normally based on the current short form of name in English. Use of Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, due to global politics, means that these various names out-of-step with typical wiki naming practices for which a consistent brief name is normally preferred. The resulting names are not intuitive for wiki users.

Note the following sources:

  • United Nations news notes the recent agreement between Athens and Skopje to formally recognize the Republic of North Macedonia as the official name of the Former Yugoslav Republic Macedonia (See https://news.un.org/en/story/2019/02/1032731)

United States Board of Geographic Names has not yet changed its name for this country from Macedonia to North Macedonia, but that can be monitored as it will undoubtedly do so in coming weeks.

Use of the same form of current name as found in these prominent English sources would facilitate use of the wiki.
