Swedish Militär indelning

The term "Swedish Militär indelning" is being used as a heading in the infoboxes found on the Swedish Parish Pages of the FamilySearch Wiki. Since the time of Gustaf Vasa, every parish in Sweden had to provide a given number of soldiers or sailors to the military. The Militär indeling sections are intended to show the military obligations of a parish in a historical context. For example, the soldiers from the parish of Gislöv were sent to serve in the Skånska Dragon-Regementet, Haglösa Sqvadron or the Södra Skånes Regemente, Skytts Kompani.

- Knowing which companies, or regiments that a parish supplied men for will help you follow your soldier or sailor ancestors in the Swedish military records.
