The author Felix Matuszkiewicz published in the periodical Archiv für Sippenforschung (Jahrgang 1938, pages 265 ff., 304 ff., and 342 ff) the articles “Das Sprottauer Geschossregister 1534/35” and “Die Bürgerrechtslisten bis zum Pestjahre 1552”. These are indexes of those citizens paying taxes in the years 1534/35 and people who applied for citizenship in Sprottau up to the year 1552. In the year 1552 the plague wiped out ca. 1600 people. The author attempted to gather from several sources the names of cirtizens in Sprottau between 1553 to 1669. In the year 1670 Sprottau established a new citizenship record which lists the population into the middle of the 19th century.
