Minnesota became the thirty-second state admitted to the Union on May 11, 1858. Minnesota was created from Minnesota Territory and is located in the Midwestern region of the United States. The State Capital of Minnesota is Saint Paul. There are 87 counties in the U.S. state of Minnesota.
