MATTISHALL-BURGH (St. Peter), a parish, in the union of Mitford and Launditch, hundred of Mitford, W. division of Norfolk, 5½ miles (E. by S.) from East Dereham. [1]
Mattishall Burgh St Peter is an Ancient Parish in the Diocese of Norwich.
Burgh, pronounced Burr'a, is just about the most common placename in Norfolk, and usually refers, to an outlying settlement of a larger community. Mattishall, Norfolk Genealogy is the parish in the centre of Mattishall but St Peter served the northern parish on the outskirts of Mattishall until the church was closed for services and the parish re-integrated with Mattishall, Norfolk Genealogy
