Mala Church

History

Between 1974 and 1982 Malå Municipality was included in Norsjö Municipality but then in 1983 it was re-established within its former boundaries.
[1]

(2) Malå parish was formed in 1862 as a chapel parish by breaking out of Arvidsjaur parish. The parish included the Lapp tax lands Lainejaur, Keppijaur, Släppejaur, Gransele, Vuorbejaur, Södra Levattnet and Duoldimjaur.

The parish was part of a joint pastorate with Arvidsjaur parish (mother parish) until 1884 to then form its own pastorate. Malå parish belonged to Norrbotten County up to and including 1868 to be subsequently transferred to Västerbotten County.

Some residents registered in Arvidsjaur parish had before the formation of the chapel parish enjoyed church rights in Norsjö parish. They came to belong to the chapel congregation.

When Malå parish formed its own pastorate according to a royal letter on December 30, 1880, the decision came into force in 1884, it was ordered that certain villages and apartments from Lycksele parish and Sorsele parish would be transferred to the new pastorate.

From Lycksele parish, the homesteads Holmsjö, Brännäs, Vännäs, Nynäs, Högåker, Aspliden, Björkås, Rökå and Berg as well as the Kronony building Aspliden were transferred. According to the Kammarkollegiet's resolution of 13 July 1876, they had been transferred from Lycksele to Malå land register and according to a royal letter on 20 December 1878 from the beginning of 1880, from a legal point of view, had been moved from Lycksele District Court to Malå and Norsjö District Court.

From Sorsele parish, the homestead Svartlund and 1/32 mtl were transferred by Johannisberg as well as the new buildings Carolinelund and Friheten, which already according to the royal letter on 12 March 1880 in the land register were transferred from Sorsele to Malå.

According to the same royal letter, Kåtenoive no. 1 and Kåtaliden no. 2 in Malå parish were to be included in Sorsele parish's land register and mantalslängd and were transferred by royal letter 15 April 1887 also in ecclesiastical terms to Sorsele until and including 1888. According to the same letter, the new building Racknäs was transferred in all respects from Malå to Sorsele parish.

According to the Chamber of Deputies' resolution of 13 July 1876, the new building Björkliden was moved from Malå to Lycksele in the land register.
