History
Maghera-Hamlet is an eccesiastical district in the barony of Kinelarty, union of Downpatrick, county of Down, and province of Ulster. The district is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Dromore.
In the Roman Catholic Church this place is the head of a union comprising also the parishes of Magheradroll and Anahilt, sometimes called the union of Dunmore. There is also a place of worship for Presbyterians.
