The information in the lists of Louisiana Military Units comes from the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors web site. That web site also can be searched by the name of a soldier. Information also found in Arthur W. Beregeron, Jr.'s Guide to Louisiana Confederate Military Units 1861-1865. [1]

  • 25th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
25th Infantry Regiment was organized in April, 1862.  In November, 1864, the 25th had 82 effectives present for duty and surrendered with the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana.
  • 28th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Thomas')(Confederate)
29th Infantry Regiment [also called 28th Regiment] was organized during the early spring of 1862 as a battalion, then in May was increased to regimental strength. It participated in various engagements in Louisiana and disbanded in the spring of 1865.
  • 31st Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
31st Infantry Regiment [including Morrison's 6th Louisiana Infantry Battalion] was organized at Vicksburg, Mississippi, during the early summer of 1862.  During the spring of 1865 it disbanded.
  • 33rd Regiment Partisan Rangers, Louisiana (Confederate)
2nd Calvary Regiment [also called the 33rd Regiment Partisan Rangers] was formed in September 1862 near Donaldsville. Some men were paroled at Natchitoches, while others surrendered at Opelousas and Washington, Louisiana.
