Kent County was named for the county of Kent in England. The county is located in the northeastern area of the state. [2]

Clerk of the Circuit Court has marriage records from 1796; divorce records from 1867, land records from 1656, and court records from early 1800's.[3]

  • County seat: Chestertown[5]
  • 19 February 1661, Talbot County was set off.
  • For a time much of Cecil County was attached to Kent County until 1659 then attached to Baltimore County.
