The following are the original, ancient, parishes which were in the historic county of [[Flintshire Genealogy|Flintshire]] which was '''abolished''' in 1974. 

It the late 19th century and the early 20th century, as the population increased in many parishes, they were sub-divided into new parishes. 

These parishes are now in one of the following counties: 

*the modern [[Flintshire Genealogy|Flintshire]] 
*the modern [[Denbighshire Genealogy|Denbighshire]] 
*the [[County Borough of Wrexham]]

Not that the historic county of Flintshire bears little resemblance to the modern county of Flintshire which was formed in 1996!
