Wyoming Bible Records[edit | edit source]

Bibles were often given to a bride as a wedding gift. Families recorded information in their family bible about changes to their immediate family and close relatives. Bible records may include birth, marriage, and death dates, parents’ names and names of children and their spouses, including maiden names. Sometimes the age of a person may be given at the time of death.

Many families kept Bible records from 1850 to more recent times; however, few records have survived. Note the handwriting for the entries to see if the entries were made at the time of the event or entered all at once or a combination of both.

Societies with Bible Records[edit | edit source]

Some bibles have been donated to local libraries and genealogical and historical societies. There may be town, county or state genealogical and historical societies with Bible records. Begin in the areas where your family lived or you may contact living family descendants to locate historical family Bibles.

The Daughters of the American Revolution have compiled some Bible records from Wyoming.
