Introduction[edit | edit source]
An obituary is a death announcement. They vary in length and amount of genealogical information included. Often the information they state is very valuable to genealogical research. They are usually found in a funeral program, a newspaper, or a local history.

- The "United States Obituaries" and "United States Newspapers" Wiki articles list sources for finding obituaries and the newspapers that published them. Also, see "Arkansas Newspapers" for additional sources and how to locate newspapers.
- For Washington, some obituaries have been published and indexed in genealogical periodicals. Many of these are referenced in the Periodical Source Index.
