Research use: Primarily for family relationships and to extend lineage beyond other existing records.
Record type: Disputes regarding certain legal matters.
Time Period: 600-present.
Content: Numerous courts were established to deal with general and specific types of cases. Specific courts dealing with family inheritance, land tenure, property, tax obligation, foreigner cases, financial obligations, government service workers, military conscription, medical cases are the most valuable genealogically. Information contained varies, but may include names, residence, family relationships, names of heirs and sometimes several generations of ancestors; dates.
Location: Municipal and National archives.
Population coverage: 10%.
