Talk:Glamorgan, Wales Genealogy
I don't like the recent changes to the Glamorgan page. These are major changes that were not proposed on the discussion page. If this is actually a community project then some communication needs to happen before major changes like this. If newer contributors are not aware of common wiki protocol then some training needs to take place.Daudwp 05:10, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
I am not new to contributing to the wiki and find that having a template used for the News & Events and Topics portion of the pages creates an overwhelming barrier to user contributions. I see no way to add a "News" event. This should be one of the easiest items for members of the community to add.
Is it possible that deleting the left side bar and moving those items to the main body of the page would simplify the look and feel of the page and at the same time reduce barriers to contribution? Gellilwcca 16:57, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I added the News and Events section and one news item but wonder if there is any preference on order of the various sections of a county page like this. Should it be higher than where I put it or closer to the bottom of the page?Gellilwcca 04:24, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
Historical Records Collection Heading[edit source]
A change was made this morning to this page adding a link to the Glamorgan marriages collection on FamilySearch. This is actually a good addition and very welcome, especially since the collection has been available for several weeks.
The way that this new content has been added is a problem though. A new heading for "FamilySearch Historical Record Collections" was inserted directly after the existing heading for "Useful websites" but before other content for the "Useful websites". There should be some discussion on the addition and placement of a new heading and one heading can not be inserted in the middle of another. Before or after would be acceptable although discussion of placement would be very useful.
The heading and content added are important enough that it may warrant a position much higher on the page and this should definately be discussed by the community members or at least the Wales contributors. Darris G. Williams 15:29, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
