Blawith (St John the Baptist ) was created a '''chapelry&nbsp;''' in 1745 from&nbsp;[[Ulverston St Mary, Lancashire]] Ancient Parishhundred of Lonsdale north of the Sands, N. division of the county of Lancaster, 7 miles (N.)from Ulverston. Other places included in this parish&nbsp;include: Higher Subberthwaite.&nbsp;<brref>Lewis, Samuel A., [http://british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=50807#s7 ''A Topographical Dictionary of England]'' (1848), pp. 279-282. "BLAWITH, a chapelry [as of 1728], in the parish and union of Ulverston, hundred of Lonsdale north of the Sands, N. division of the county of Lancaster, 7 miles (N.) from Ulverston; containing 186 inhabitants. Portions of the manors of Ulverston, Egton with Newland, Torver, and Conishead, constitute this township. The living is a perpetual curacy; net income, £59; patron and impropriator, T. R. G. Braddyll, Esq. The chapel existed in 1715.
