"CHEETHAM, [St Mark,] a township ['''chapelry as of 1794'''], '''in the parish '''and union '''of Manchester''', hundred of Salford, S. division of the county of Lancaster, 2 miles north by west of Manchester. The river Irwell separates the township from Salford.&nbsp;St Luke's&nbsp;ecclesiastical district was created in 1839 (which&nbsp;see)&nbsp;to&nbsp; include portions of Crumpsall and Broughton. St. Thomas Redbank&nbsp;Church, at the corner of Derby-street,&nbsp;was&nbsp;built by&nbsp;1843. There were two meeting-houses for Wesleyan Methodists, with a burial-ground and a school attached to one of them; also a place of worship for Associated Methodists. Cheetham Hill St Mark is an Ecclesiastical Parish in the county of Lancashire, created in 1839 from&nbsp;[[Manchester Our Lady, St George and St Denys, Lancashire]] Ancient Parish. Other places in the parish include:&nbsp; Crumpsall , and&nbsp; [[Cheetham St Luke]]. <br>
Consecrated as chapelry&nbsp; 24th July 1794 by Dr. William Markham the 22nd Bishop of Chester as chapelry within the Chester Diocese. The Rev. Charles Ethelston became the first vicar.<br>The church closed in 1982 and was demolished c.1998<br><br>
