Parish History[edit | edit source]
Southminster, is a village, a parish, and a sub-district, in Maldon district, Essex. The village stands at the terminus of the South Essex railway, 9 miles SE of Maldon; and has a post-office under Maldon. There are chapels for Independents and Baptists.[1]

Poor Law Unions[edit | edit source]
Prior to the foundation of Maldon Poor Law Union, Essex Genealogy a workhouse existed in the parish. Essex Record Office has reference Q/CR 1/9/7 Original returns made by overseers for 1800-1801, 1816-1817 1800-1817. These records were not filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah.
