Known Issues[edit | edit source]

Question 1[edit | edit source]

Question 1: I get a message “Image not available” even after I have registered and signed in. Why can’t I view those images?
Answer 1: The Russia, Samara Church Books, 1869-1917, is a restricted image collection. FamilySearch has rights to publish images online to users from the sponsoring organization only (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).

FamilySearch, however, has other resources which are available to all researchers. These online records, and many others for this area, are available on microfilm which can be viewed at the Family History Library or some FamilySearch Centers. To find a microfilm see: FamilySearch Catalog. Please contact your local FamilySearch Center in advance to see if they have the microfilm for you to view.

Another resource is to visit the Russia Genealogy Research Community on Facebook, where you can collaborate with other researchers.

If you have a Church account and are not able to view the images after signing in, it may be due to a registration problem and not an image access problem. Please call 1-866-406-1830 in the United States, or contact patron services at support@familysearch.org. Please include a brief description of the problem and steps taken thus far to resolve the issue.

Question 2[edit | edit source]

Question 2: What happened to the indexed records for this collection?
Answer 2: The previous indexed records were in Cyrillic and were unsearchable. FamilySearch is working to create Cyrillic search capabilities; when that has been accomplished, the collection will be republished with that enhancement.
