Question 1[edit | edit source]

Question 1: I am having trouble searching Wills in Athens County. Are there waypoints in Athens County that have been mislabeled?
Answer 1: The waypoint Wills 1820-1828 Vol 1A contains Wills Vol 1B 1820-1821

Question 2[edit | edit source]

Question 2: The records in the waypoint Belmont County > Probate Records, 1859, no. 4306-4387 don’t seem to match the label. Where can I find these records?
Answer 2: The waypoint labeled Probate Records 1859 no 4388, has the images from folders no. 4306-4387 in images 1-2987. Images 2988-3040 are from folder no. 4388. The waypoint labeled no. 4306-4387 has additional images from folder 4388.

Question 3: I see instances where pages are missing when I am searching these records. Can these pages be viewed somewhere else?
Answer 3: Some pages were missed when the film was digitized. Until the problem is corrected, films can be viewed at the Family History Library or some FamilySearch Centers. Call ahead to check if the film is available at your local center. Other images were missed by the camera operator, were missing, or have been destroyed. FamilySearch is not in possession of these images.

  • Franklin > Wills index 1805-1905 pages 402-403 are missing and not available on FamilySearch.

Question 4: There appear to be some records missing from Guernsey and Hocking Counties in this collection. Are these records available for viewing?
Answer 4: The images contained on film number 2209810 (Guernsey County, Ohio) as well as film numbers 1289454 and 2318125 (Hocking County, Ohio) are not included in this collection due to contract issues. These films can be viewed at the Family History Library or some FamilySearch Centers. Call ahead to check if the film is available at your local center.

Question 5: The images in the waypoint Lucas > Estates 1871-1875 vol 5-6 are very light and almost illegible. Are there better images available?
Answer 5: Though these images are poor they are the best we have available. The microfilm is poor quality and is very light as well.

Question 6[edit | edit source]

Question 6: Can you identify the dates in the waypoint Medina > Will index no date?
Answer 6: The records in this waypoint appear to be another handwritten copy of the index in the waypoint Medina > Wills 1847-1862 vol A.

Question 7[edit | edit source]

Question 7: I am seeing multiple records on an image. How can these be used?
Answer 7: At the waypoint Montgomery > Estates 1854-1855 no 2671-2696 there were multiple records filmed on image 188 containing folders from 2675-2677. These are all readable by zooming in. They can also be saved to your personal computer and managed through an image viewer program of your choice.

Question 8: The waypoint Portage > Journals 1883-1885 vol 13-14 displays records for Lucas County, Estate records v. 1-2 1852-1865. Where can I find the correct images?
Answer 8: The records for Lucas County, Estate records v. 1-2 1852-1865 (Film 865038) are also found in Lucas > Estates 1852-1865 vol 1-2. . Apparently, there is a mix-up with the digital images and the correct film. Until this problem is resolved, you will have to locate Film 891389.
