Newton county existed in theory for only a few months. Doty County was created in 1855 from part of Itasca County. A few months later its name was changed to Newton County. This entity was abolished in 1856. The land that was once Newton County is now part of Saint Louis County.[1]
For records, see Saint Louis County.
