What is in This Collection?[edit | edit source]
This collection will include records from 1400-1940. The languages of the records for this collection are in Maltese, Italian, Latin, and English. This collection contains images of various record types held by the National Archives of Malta. Includes Deaths; hospital admission and discharge collections; Ġuljana Masini Collection of baptisms, marriages, deaths, and family trees; passport and visa records; aircraft arrivals/departures. This collection is being published as images become available.

Whenever possible FamilySearch makes images and indexes available for all users. However, rights to view these data are limited by contract and subject to change. Because of this there may be limitations on where and how images and indexes are available or who can see them. Please be aware some collections consist only of partial information indexed from the records and do not contain any images.

- Names of parents
- Place of baptism
- Names of witnesses
Marriage registers may contain the following information:
- Name of groom
- Name of bride
- Ages
- Names of parents
- Date of marriage
- Place of marriage
- Father’s occupation
Death Registers may contain the following information:
- Name of deceased
- Date and place of death
- Cause of death
- Occupation
- Date and place of burial

As you are searching, it is helpful to know information such as:
- Name of ancestor
- Place of birth
- Date of birth
- Names of parents
- Last residence

Compare each result from your search with what you know to determine if there is a match. This may require viewing multiple records or images. Keep track of your research in a research log.

Tips to Keep in Mind[edit | edit source]
- When looking for a person who had a common name, look at all the entries for the name before deciding which is correct.
- Remember that there may be more than one person in the records with the same name as your ancestor and that your ancestor may have used nicknames or different names at different times.
- Titles may be clues to property ownership, occupations, rank, or status within the community.
- Continue to search the records to identify children, siblings, parents, and other relatives
