Description[edit | edit source]

The County was named for the Iowa River. The County has Marengo as its seat and the County was created 1843. The County is located in the east central area of the state.[1]

1843--Iowa County was created 17 February 1843 from Keokuk County. It was attached to Poweshiek and Johnson Counties prior to organization 1 July 1845.  County seat:  Marengo [3]
