Known Issues[edit | edit source]
Question 1[edit | edit source]
Question 1: When searching these records, why do I find the suffix –nak on some of the names?
Answer 1: One meaning of the Hungarian suffix "-nak" is "to" or “unto”. Since these records are baptismal records, the "nak" refers to the child being "born to" that particular person. When people are indexing Hungarian records, they need to be aware that the Hungarian language adds suffixes to the end of words and names to designate possession, prepositions, etc.
