HOLT, a chapelry, in the parish, union, and hundred of Bradford, Westbury and N. divisions, and Trowbridge and Bradford sub-divisions, of Wiltshire, 2¼ miles (E. N. E.) from Bradford. There are a place of worship for Independents, and a national school. It is located on the river Avon, near the Kennet and Avon canal, at the junction of the Devizes railway with the Wiltshire, Somerset, and Weymouth railway, also near the Bathampton branch of the Great Western railway.
