One of the responsibilities of the Wiki Support Team involves Role Management, which includes the role of Reviewer. A Reviewer is a user who has been extended permissions to upload and add images and other files to wiki pages without having someone else review them. Reviewers may also approve the images and files uploaded by others so that the original user can then attach the files/images to the pages they choose.

Reviewers for the wiki content will come and go. The Reviewer role assigned to the users will need to be changed accordingly.  Since the role of reviewer requires knowledge of the process of uploading files, as well as the guidelines regarding images, it is especially important the the user is trustworthy and willing to follow all guidelines. Pages in the wiki related the reviewer role include:

  1. FamilySearch Wiki:Reviewer
  2. Image Use
  3. Uploading Images and files
  4. Information templates
  5. Licensing page
  6. The Approval Process

Steps to be followed when a request is received from someone wishing to be a  Reviewer[edit | edit source]

The following questions could be asked to help evaluate if they are capable to fill the role:

Blue question mark.png
  1. Name
  2. User name
  3. Why does the contributor need Reviewer rights?
  4. What have they contributed to the Wiki?

You will need to verify:

  1. That they are trustworthy
  2. That they are willing to go over the policy for uploading images and abide by the policies.

After verifying that the requestor should have the rights, you will need to go over the process of uploading images and files, the information templates, and licensing page. It is extemely important for the new reviewer to understand what is acceptable and what is not.

If the person seems to be capable and trustrworthy, forward the information to L Parris, so that she can follow up and contact the patron.  She will then assign the rights to them.
