Dorado existed as a barrio during the Spanish Colonial period. after the building of public works, Dorado was established in 1848.
Like most of Puerto Rico, Hurricane Maria in 2017 was badly damaged with landslides and large amounts of rain.
In 2010, the U.S. Census lists the population as 38,165. [1]
