Parish History[edit | edit source]

CROSTHWAITE (St. Kentigern), a parish, in the union of Cockermouth, Allerdale ward below Derwent, W. division of Cumberland, ½ a mile (N. by W.) from Keswick.[1] The following chapelries lay within the ancient parish boundary, including:

1) Borrowdale – 1775

2) Castlerigg St Johns in the Vale – 1718

3) Grange – 1861

4) Keswick – 1839

5) Newlands – 1699

6) Thornthwaite –  1776

7) Wythburn - 1777
