Communities in Wales
A community (Welsh: cymuned) is the lowest level of local government structure in Wales today.
These communities were created, under the Local Government Act 1972, as part of the local government reorganisation and come into being in 1974 to replace the former civil parishes. Each community is represented by a Community Council, which is some cases may be known as a Town Council or even a City Council.
