Burträsk Church

History[edit | edit source]

The parish was established in 1606 when it was separated from Skellefteå

(2) Burträsk parish was added in 1606 by breaking out of Skellefteå parish. On May 1, 1919, Kalvträsk parish was formed by breaking away from Burträsk parish (northern part).

The parish constituted its own pastorate 1606-1919 and then formed a pastorate together with Kalvträsk parish.

Burträsk parish and Kalvträsk parish were part of Burträsk-Kalvträsk's church community. The church community constitutes its own archive, mainly for the period 1933-1999.

In connection with the creation of the parish, the villages Andersvattnet, Bygdsiljum, Gurkoträsk, Krokvattnet and Lubboträsk were transferred from Bygdeå parish. In other respects, the parish originally included Bodbyn, Burträsk, Bygdeträsk, Lappvattnet, Ljusvattnet, Lövångers Siliore, Mjödvattnet, Renbergsvattnet, Villvattnet and Åbyn.

The village Sidberget or Sidbergsliden was granted church rights in Burträsk in 1818 but belonged to Skellefteå parish. The village was later incorporated into Burträsk.

In 1870, Slyberget, Lugnet and Skursjön were transferred from Bygdeå parish to Burträsk parish.

In 1872 (1874), Trågaliden, N. Stortjärn and Älglund were transferred from Burträsk parish to Bygdeå parish.

Part of Risliden's village was transferred in 1922 from Burträsk parish to Norsjö parish.
