Bureå Church

History[edit | edit source]

Bureå parish was formed on January 1, 1922 and broke out of Skellefteå county (part of the southern county). Between January and April 1922, the parish formed a joint pastorate with Skellefteå parish and then formed its own pastorate.

The population registration documents in Bureå church archives begin in 1919 and 1921, respectively.

The following villages were added to the parish: Bergfors södra, Bureå 1-8, Burvik 1-8, Bäck 1-11, Bölesvik, Falmark 1-5, Hedåker, Hjoggböle 1-9, Holmsvattnet 1-2, Häggnäs, Häggdal, Istermyrliden, Kroknäs , Ljusvattnet, Långbaka, Sandviken, Sidberg or Sidbergsliden, Sidtorp, Storön, Vikdal, Vikmyran, Yttervik 1-7 and some smaller areas.
