Brief History[edit | edit source]
Brighton Plantation is a former town, now a Maine plantation in the forests of Somerset County. Its name was changed from North Hill to Brighton in 1827. Brighton surrendered its town status in 1895 when it became a plantation. Brighton set off some of its land to Athens in 1838 and 1862.[1]
