BOLTON-upon-Swale, a chapelry, in the parish of Catterick, union of Richmond, wapentake of Gilling-East, N. riding of York, 1¾ mile (N. E.) from Catterick; containing 960 inhabitants, of whom 96 are in Bolton township. 
BOLTON-UPON-SWALE, a chapelry in Catterick parish, N. R. Yorkshire; on the river Swale, 2¾ miles SW of Cowton r. station, and 5½ ESE of Richmond.
