ROOTHING, ABBESS (St. Edmund), a parish, in the union of Ongar, partly in the hundred of Dunmow, N division, but chiefly in that of Ongar, S division, of Essex, 6 miles N by E from Ongar, containing the hamlet of Barwick .There is a meeting-house for Independents. [1]
